Has your illness wreaked havoc on your relationships?
You’re not alone.
I can’t count the number of posts from chronically ill people who abruptly end relationships–even with their families.
While fighting a chronic illness, can we really love others as ourselves?
When I’m in pain, is it possible to “Pursue peace with all men. . .without which no one will see the Lord”? Hebrews 12:14.
Here’s a way:
1. Love Jesus More Than These.
We demand love and kindness from those who have none to give. When Jesus rises in priority, our need for others’ love decreases. John 21:15
2. Find Friends Who Love Jesus & Emulate Them.
Just as Jesus found his mother, sister, and brother among those who obey and do the will of God, so should you. Mark 3:35, Luke 8:21
3. Ask Your Father For Divine Love1.
Only through the Holy Spirit can others love us with all our problems and our love pour out on others who may return evil for good.
What does divine love do? Things that are not natural to us like: • Prays & Gives Thanks For Difficult People. • Puts People's Actions In The Best Light. • Learns to Forgive Quickly & Absolutley. • Honors Others As Better Than Yourself. • Avoids Favorites. • Feels compassion for those who sin against us.
4. Pray & Read The Proverbs Daily.
Every day we will encounter tough circumstances. So everyday I pray and read the proverbs to find the wisdom I need.
5. Worshiping In the Midst of Your Pain.
Relationships hurt and will continue to do so until we get to heaven. When we are in pain, worship of God will calm, soothe and heal. Job 1:20
6. Surrender.
Sometimes all we can or should do at that moment is to surrender the situation to God, especially if it’s stressful.
7. It’s Warfare…Are You Fighting The Wrong Enemy?
We don’t fight against flesh and blood but against:
- principalities,
- powers,
- the rulers of the darkness of this age,
- spiritual armies of wickedness in heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
Precious Remedies Against Satan's Schemes: By causing saints to compare themselves to those to be worse than themselves: For rememdies, consider that: 1) to be quick sighted abroad and blind at home proves a man a hypocrite. 2) it is far better to compare our actions with the Word... 3) though our sins appear as great as those of others, yet without repentance responding to mercy, we shall be as certainly damned as others. 8. Reconciliation is Possible.
As Christ has reconciled us to the Father, we also have the work of reconciliation. That must be why the Lord always answers my prayers for reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18
